Mental Health Clinic is operated by Westergaard Pty Ltd (ABN 22 663 084 900). We handle your personal information in line with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth), the Australian Privacy Principles and applicable state and territory health records laws.
What we collect
When you request an appointment we collect your name, date of birth, contact details, state and Medicare details, and health information you give us about why you’d like to see a GP. If you go ahead with an appointment, your GP keeps clinical notes and records of your care. Our website may also use cookie-free analytics that show us, in aggregate, how people use the site.
Why we collect it
To arrange and provide your care, bill Medicare where you’re eligible, contact you about your care, and meet our legal and professional obligations.
Who we share it with
Your GP and the team who support your care; other health professionals involved in your care, such as pharmacies and pathology providers, where needed; Medicare and Services Australia for billing; and the service providers who host our systems and help us communicate with you. Some of our support staff and service providers are located outside Australia, and we take reasonable steps to make sure they protect your information. We don’t sell your information, and we don’t share your health information with advertising platforms.
If we believe there is a serious threat to your or someone else’s life, health or safety, we may use or disclose information as the law allows.
How we protect it
We store information with reputable providers, limit access to people who need it to provide or support your care, and keep medical records for the periods the law requires.
Access, correction and complaints
You can ask to see or correct your information at any time by emailing admin@mentalhealthclinic.au. If you’re unhappy with how we’ve handled your information, tell us and we’ll respond within 30 days. If we don’t resolve it, you can contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner at oaic.gov.au.
